ARIA Oncology Information System (OIS) is a product of Varian Medical Systems. ARIA OIS is ONC-certified and combines radiology, medical and surgical information on to a central Electronic Health Records (EHR) Software system to support a multi-disciplinary approach to oncology treatment.
ARIA OIS expedites the evaluation of patient responses to treatment and long-term clinical outcomes by collecting medical information on its Electronic Medical Records. This further facilitates practitioners in determining treatment plans, as well as developing disease-specific protocols to facilitate a standard, consistent quality of care for disease management.
ARIA OIS Decision Support automates cancer staging based on AJCC guidelines and allows an interface that includes labs, pharmacies and medical oncology information that assist in improved decision making. This is further assisted by ARIA OIS graphing tool to chart patient progress for a quick glance review.
ARIA OIS is partnered with the OncoLog Cancer Registry, a cancer program that analyzes follow-up management by generating studies to aid both prospective and retrospective analysis of treatment patterns, complications, and outcomes. It also offers powerful query tools, automated data import, and remote data access.
ARIA OIS is integrated with imaging and diagnostic equipment which supports radio-graphic, fluoroscopic, and cone-beam CT images. These assist in reviewing patient progress and determine any changes that need to be made to the treatment plan. Documentation storage and management through ARIA OIS is secure and discrete.
Billing and claims are made easier with ARIA OIS. The billing module records all procedures and activities at the point of care, using Relative Value Units (RVU) to refile charges and procedure codes. ARIA OIS partners with Unlimited Systems’ Centricity Physician Office for its Practice Management (PM) needs.

Pros: The ARIA (OIS) with my practice's EMR is seamless, which was one of our big concerns. Very easy for the patient to see availability and to schedule an appointment.
Cons: I certainly have. It's still a new technology and there are going to be IT problems. Some patients and even some providers are going to run into conflicts now and then.
Verdict: It is a good software overall.
