Sightview EMR Software

Sightview EMR software, previously known as Eye Care Leaders, is a cloud-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and Practice Management (PM) software solution. The EMR software platform has been specifically designed for ophthalmology, optometry, and optical practices. Sightview streamlines eye-care surgical workflows through its Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) specific EHR and practice management tools.

It’s worth noting that Sightview EHR software itself is one specific certified product within a broader portfolio. Sightview also owns and supports several other eye care EMR software platforms, including My Vision Express, MDoffice, Management Plus, and Medflow, each separately ONC-certified.

At the clinical level, Sightview’s ophthalmology-specific EMR system is built around customizable workflows for exams and diagnostic testing, not a generic system retrofitted for eye care. Documentation, diagnostic imaging, and patient records all follow the actual structure of an eye exam, rather than a one-size-fits-all format.

The optometry specific Electronic Health Records (EHR) software also provides retail functionality, combining inventory, e-prescriptions, and lab orders within the same system. For eligible practices, Sightview EHR system also provides MIPS reporting services to help manage quality measures and reimbursement requirements tied to the program.

Sightview also handles Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), covering the full billing lifecycle from start to finish. What’s notable is that these RCM services are available to eye care practices running other EMR systems as well. ICD-10 coding plays a central role throughout this process, since it’s what establishes medical necessity and ultimately supports insurance claim submissions.

On the patient side, Sightview Patient Engagement feature automates outreach, from appointment reminders and lens sales promotions to post-service follow-ups. Sightview Pay complements this with payment options like text-to-pay and card-on-file, helping practices collect payments faster without adding extra work for staff.

Overall, the Sightview EMR system is a complete solution for modern eye-care practices. The goal is a single connected system that carries an ophthalmology practice from patient engagement all the way through billing and reimbursement. The company reports its platform is used by over 1,000 practices, 5,000 providers, and 15,000 individual users.

Pros: I like that Sightview EMR software is made specifically for eye care. A lot of the things we need during an exam are already built into the workflow. The templates are helpful and I can get to previous patient information pretty quickly. I also like having the imaging and clinical information together because it saves me from looking in different places.

Cons: Support has been a mixed experience for me. They are helpful when you get the right person, but getting an issue resolved can sometimes take longer than I would like.

Verdict: I have a pretty positive view of Sightview EHR system overall. It has the features we actually need and I like that the system is built around ophthalmology instead of trying to cover every type of medical practice.

Pros: I like having clinical and practice management side together. We are not jumping between completely separate systems just to look at a patients information, billing, or appointment history. The reporting is useful once you understand how to build what you need, and there is a lot you can do with it.

Cons: The reporting takes some getting used to. You really have to learn how the system thinks before you can get the report you actually want.

Verdict: Sightview EMR software has a lot going for it, especially for a practice that wants its EHR, billing, and practice management connected. It is not something I would describe as effortless, particularly during setup or when you are trying to solve a less common problem.

Pros: Sightview EHR Software is pretty easy to pick up. New staff do not usually need a huge amount of time just to understand the basics, which I appreciate.

Cons: There are definitely some quirks. You get used to them, but there are times when I wonder why something needs so many steps.

Verdict: I would say Sightview is a good option if you want something that is focused on eye care and do not mind spending some time learning the system.

Pros: The biggest thing for me is that Sightview EMR software actually feels like an ophthalmology system. The clinical information is laid out in a way that makes sense for our type of practice, and once you know your way around it, getting through a patient visit is pretty quick.

Cons: There are still little things that slow us down. Sometimes we have to enter information again when I feel like the system should already have it.

Verdict: I have generally been happy with Sightview EHR. It took some time to get everyone comfortable with it, but after that the system became pretty easy to work with.
